[color=#888888]📝 DESCRIPTION: Science is a dynamic, expanding body of knowledge covering ever-new domains of experience. It is an organized system of knowledge based on inquiry born out of natural curiosity, logical reasoning, and experimentation. The role of a science teacher has evolved in recent years from that of transmitter of knowledge to one of facilitator of knowledge. The teacher is also expected to be a participant in the construction of knowledge and to develop in students an understanding of the nature of science.
Science makes everyday life easier through scientific developments. A dominant example is electricity – the discovery of which changed people’s lives forever. Electric light benefits people every day through inventions like lamps, traffic lights, appliances, and computers. Instead of reading by candlelight at night, a click of a switch turns on a light. Physical science studies the nature and properties of nonliving matter and energy, such as physics, chemistry, astronomy, and earth sciences, each with many subdivisions. Science has helped speed up the pace of contemporary life. A trip that took weeks or longer on foot or horseback was shortened by the invention of trains. Boats and automobiles soon followed, and later the airplane became the quickest way for people to travel.
By understanding the laws of physical science and studying them, humanity has been able to harness various elements of nature – water, fire, oceans, wind, and air – and use them for our benefit, thus enhancing human lifestyle over generations. Science is not simply important; it is essential. Everything around us obeys laws of science. It is only when these laws are discovered that people can put this knowledge to good use.
This Fourth Edition covers twelve units organized under three sections. This book is an exploratory and introductory course that leads to the Physical Science Certificate Level I. In this edition, units have been revised and updated to make each subject matter more interesting and easier for students to understand. It aims to inspire learners to strive harder by developing a sense of responsibility and commitment as they progress through the course.
