APU Dynamics Optimizer

Finished mixes, podcasts, and narration files often need their loudness spread reshaped before a streaming or broadcast target. This standalone Mac app does that from a full-file analysis instead of a live compressor insert.
From file drop to an audition
Drop a recording onto the window or browse to it. Analysis runs across the whole file at the original sample rate. Processing uses 32-bit float samples, the same format written on export. The source range opens on the same percentile window the LRA algorithm uses, so the quietest and loudest tails sit outside the mapped region until you widen the range. The left histogram is the source; the right is the target shape you are aiming for.
Press the right arrow to run the optimization. Play, pause, and the seek bar let you compare sections while attack, release, and the linear rates are still movable. Vibe Check sweeps pre-limiter gain so small timing changes are easier to hear. A useful pass keeps the output histogram close to the chosen shape without the limiter flattening peaks you still wanted in the mix.
Distribution shapes and delivery presets
Uniform spreads loudness evenly across the selected range. Normal is a bell curve you can skew toward the louder or quieter end. Source keeps the original histogram shape while you narrow or widen the range. Reference loads a second file after the source analysis and uses that histogram as the model. Levels below the source range can take makeup gain, hold, bypass, or a gate.
Detectors include momentary, short-term, and integrated LUFS, plus RMS, peak, and true peak. Channels can stay linked or be processed apart. Weighting can remain K-weighting or switch to ECMA-418, ITU-R 468, A-weighting, or C-weighting; anything other than K-weighting is no longer a standard LUFS reading. Built-in presets cover streaming references such as Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube, plus podcast, ACX, EBU R 128, and ATSC A/85. A preset name is only a starting point: choosing it does not enable export compensation, and dynamics processing can move integrated loudness even when the source already matches the numbers in the name.
What the export actually writes
Export writes a 32-bit float WAV at the source sample rate, which can store samples above 0 dBFS. Set Compensation to Integrated before the render when the spec is a full-file LUFS target; Average does the same idea with the selected loudness type. That correction is calculated during export and is absent from audition playback. The limiter, in Peak or True Peak mode, can pull level back down afterward, so the saved file still needs a full-duration measurement. Bypass the limiter if you would rather catch peaks in another tool. Several loaded files can share one export with the same settings.
Version 6.0.0 reviews each finished export against the limiter ceiling and the target, reports failed renders, and removes incomplete files. History views can show a sidechain or main companion trace. It needs macOS 10.14 or later on Intel and Apple silicon, plus OpenGL 3.2, and the user manual describes a universal standalone build. It is not an Audio Unit or VST on a mix bus. A license is a one-time $40 key entered on the About tab for offline activation, with free updates and use on up to three devices.
