Time-based login codes sit in the Mac menu bar, so a second factor does not mean unlocking a phone in the middle of a sign-in.

Click, copy, paste
The icon stays up in the menu bar. Open it, choose the account, and the current code is copied to the clipboard. Paste with Command-V into the browser or desktop app that asked for it. You can sort the list and resize the panel when the number of accounts grows. The same vault is split into All, Favorites, Recents, and Trash. Favorites are the logins you use every day. Recents surface what you just touched. Trash keeps a deletion until you restore it, which matters when a cleanup click was too quick.

That loop is the product. It does not store site passwords or fill them in. It only produces the short-lived second code that sits next to a password you already have, for the banking, social media, and other online accounts the product page names.

QR import and where the secret lives
Accounts arrive from the QR a website shows when two-factor authentication is turned on. Use the Mac camera, open a QR image you already saved, or import a standard export from Google Authenticator and similar apps. Account rows can take an icon from a URL so a long list is easier to scan. After import, codes are generated on the Mac from the stored secret.

A master password locks access to the vault. An encrypted backup file can move accounts to another Mac or sit on a spare drive if the internal disk fails. Optional iCloud sync keeps an encrypted copy on your other Macs. That is useful, and it also means the vault is no longer only on one machine. The site line that data is never sent online describes the local path; enabling sync is a separate choice.

Paying for it, and when a phone app still wins
The build covered here is 2.5.2. It requires macOS 10.15 or later, runs on Intel and Apple silicon, and the vendor states compatibility with macOS Tahoe. App Store languages are English, French, German, Simplified Chinese, and Spanish.

Naarak Studio sells a direct single-user license for $14: every Mac in a household for private use, or one office Mac for commercial use. The EULA includes a fully functional 14-day trial and an activation key by email, and it refuses refunds once that key is sent, except for narrow delivery or technical cases. The same EULA says Small Business and Site licenses are not currently available. The App Store edition is a free download with in-app purchases: a $14.99 lifetime unlock, $8.99 per year, or $1.99 per month. There is no documented iPhone companion, browser extension, or passkey support, so a phone authenticator remains the fallback when you are away from these Macs. If your codes already live inside a password manager you use on every device, a Mac-only menu bar duplicates that job.

Show full description Pros & Cons Show details
✅ PROS

  • Clicking an account in the menu bar copies the current code, so the next step is Command-V instead of retyping digits from a phone.
  • New accounts can be added with the Mac camera, a saved QR image, or a standard export from Google Authenticator and similar apps.
  • Codes are generated on the Mac from a locally stored secret, and an encrypted backup file can move the vault to another drive or another Mac.
  • Favorites, Recents, All, and Trash make a long list usable, and a deletion can be restored from Trash.
  • A direct single-user license is a one-time $14 purchase, with a fully functional 14-day trial before you pay.
  • Apple’s App Store nutrition label for this build lists data collection as none.
    ❌ CONS

  • The App Store edition is free to install but the full product sits behind in-app purchases, including $8.99 a year or $1.99 a month if you skip the lifetime unlock.
  • Turning on iCloud sync stores an encrypted copy of the accounts in iCloud, so the vault is not limited to a single Mac.
  • Official pages describe sync across Macs and do not document an iPhone, iPad, or browser companion.
  • Passkeys and Touch ID unlock are not described on the vendor site or the App Store listing.
  • Direct-sale refunds are refused once the activation key has been emailed, aside from narrow delivery or technical exceptions in the EULA.
  • Small Business and Site licenses are not currently available, according to the EULA, even though a commercial install is limited to one office Mac.
